When you get past the hype, sustainability just makes great sense. Sustainable practices in business, industry and the home not only benefit the hip-pocket of individuals and organisations, but will lead to a healthier environment and community...which is good for everyone.

UB's SMB Campus is home to the Ballarat branch of the National Centre for Sustainability. The NCS provides educational leadership and works in partnership with industry, government and community. It undertakes program delivery, resource development, project work and applied research to support the development of sustainable practices.

NCS staff with their knowledge and expertise are positioned to form strategic partnerships with industry, government and community, consulting and educating about sustainability.

UB, through its innovation and regional community focus, is meeting the demands of the Western Victoria community in sustainability in the urban and natural environment.

Specialist advice and training is available on a range of issues including:

  • Creating a sustainable business

  • Sustainable building practices

  • Energy efficiency for homes

  • Tailored industry sustainability training

  • Triple-bottom line reporting

  • Environmental Management Systems and environmental auditing

  • Renewable energy technologies
