MSA - Innovation Program Study Award
The program is offering a Study Award to the nominal
value of $10,000. Applications are invited from vocational
education and training (VET) students, VET teachers and
trainers, assessors, enterprise employees and owners. There
are no limitations on age or background.
It is anticipated that the successful applicant would
spend three to four weeks involved in a study program and/or
visits to industry and/or educational/training institutions
outside of Australia. The recipient of the Study Award must
complete their travel by December 2010.

UB Administration Staff can covert their skills and
experience into a qualification
A specific program offering the Certificate IV in
Business - (Traineeship) is being offered here at UB. (UB
staff only).
This will be flexibly delivered with full skills recognition
offered. Govt. funding is available to fully fund the
training.

UB launches Reconciliation Action Plan - September 2009
The University of Ballarat Australia acknowledges the
Wotjobaluk, Wergaia, Jupagalk, Jadawadjali, Jaadwa,
Wathaurong, Dja Dja Wurrung and Wurundjeri peoples as the
traditional owners of the land where its campuses and
centres are located.

Industry Experts as Teachers Graduate
One the 29th October 2009, the first group of ten
participants from the University of Ballarat’s TAFE Industry
Experts as Teachers Program were presented with the
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment by Mr Geoff Howard
MP, on the SMB campus.
The Industry Experts as Teachers Program is an initiative
of the State Government to encourage people with current
industry skills to teach in TAFE. The program has provided
scholarships to people currently working in industry to
complete training, the Certificate IV in Training and
Assessment (TAA), undertake sessional teaching and
participate in a 12 month mentoring program.

'Change is in the Air' - UB TAFE Showcase Event
The focus of the showcase will be the changes made by
teachers in 2009 and showcasing their achievements. There
will be more than 20 UB TAFE teachers discussing and showing
their changes to teaching practices, tools and activities.
They will also be reflecting on professional development
activities, working with industry and regional engagement.
If you are interested in learning more about these changes
from your peers.

for the Gold flags and the sound of peaceful African and
Classical music. The Coffee that we use is made only using
only Fair Trade Coffee.

ANZAC spirit thrives in our Automotive Department
For the last week and in the next two weeks leading
up to the next International Worldskills competition, to
be held in Calgary, Canada, Australian and New Zealand
Worldskills National champions will be training side by
side in the University of Ballarat's Automotive training
facility.
Under the leadership of Grant Petch competing
students will gain the knowledge and skills required to
compete at an international level. Whilst non-competing
UB TAFE students have the unique opportunity to watch
and learn from these champions in action.

state wide achievements within the Hospitality Industry,
the Restaurant and Catering Association of Victoria
