    Operational Plans

    The following plans operationalise the strategic directions into Portfolios and School/Directorate/Centre, Strategies and Actions:

  • Portfolio Plans
    - contains a summary of organisational and operational strategies for each Portfolio

  • School / Directorate / Centre Plans
    - contains detailed operating plans for each School/Directorate/Centre

University Planning Process

    Planning Framework

    Since 2004, the University has developed a long-term strategic plan through the 2020 Vision and Agenda. This document is used as the overarching guide for the development of the:

  • Goals, Objectives and Strategies for the ensuing 5 years, and
  • Srategies and Priorities for the next 12 months.
  • Assigned with the 2020 Vision and Agenda, and underpinning the Annual Strategies and Priorities, are the following operational plans:

  • Portfolio Plans
  • School / Directorate / Centre Plans
  • This Framework enables the University to utilise both a "top-down" and "bottom-up" approach to its planning process to ensure alignment between strategy and operation.

    Operational Plans

    As outlined in the Framework the Operational Plans comprise:

    Portfolio Plans
    These plans incorporate the priority actions of the Annual Plan that are lead by the Portfolio and summarise the key strategies and activities of the Operating Plans of the Schools / Directorates / Centres that make up the Portfolios. Accordingly, they are developed from the completed Operating Plans

    Operating Plans
    These plans:
  • establish the roles and functions, context/background, opportunities, challenges and future directions of the School / Directorate / Centre; and
  • articulate both the operational and strategic activities that will be undertaken by the School / Directorate / Centre in line with the University's strategic objectives and strategies
