About the Certificate II in Horticulture

RTF20103 Certificate II in Horticulture

UB Tec Certificate II in Horticulture offers an innovative and sustainable ‘hands on’ project-based program that will provide you with the basic knowledge and skills to operate in various horticultural industries.

This course involves gaining skills applicable in a wide range of gardening and horticulture work environments.

What will I study?

Treat plant pests, diseases and disorders

Recognise plants

Undertake propagation activities

Operate machinery and equipment

Treat weeds

Work effectively in the industry

Apply chemicals under supervision

Carry out natural restoration works

Establish horticultural crops

Pot on plants

Prepare and maintain plant displays

Prune shrubs and small trees

Tend nursery plants

Basic first aid

Lay paving

Determine basic properties of soil/growing media

Fees 

Tuition fees are set by the Victorian State Government. An Amenities Fee and a Materials Fee are set by the University of Ballarat and students are advised of these when an application is received. Students may be eligible for a concession at the time of enrolment.
