Regulatory requirements

The University of Ballarat as a Self Accredited Provider (SAI) and Registered Training Organisation (RTO), is obliged to meet specific legislative and regulatory requirements. These are in addition to the standards the University sets for itself.

Currently, Higher Education and Vocational Education and Training is regulated as follows:

  • VET Programs are regulated by the National Vet Regulator - the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) through the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 and associated pieces of legislation;
  • Higher education programs are regulated by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) through the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 and associated pieces of legislation;
  • VCAL Programs are regulated by the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority through the Minimum Standards for Registration to provide an Accredited Senior Secondary Qualification.

The specific interests of our international students are assured by the Educational Services for Overseas Students Act and the National Code.
