Why IT at UB?

The Bachelor of Information Technology (Professional Practice) is an innovative program that has been developed in conjunction with IBM to produce graduates who have an appreciation of the culture of work as an IT professional. From the second year of the program, you will combine university studies and practical experience with IBM in an 'Earn As You Learn' program. Units on industry awareness and industry application are delivered in association with IBM staff.

The first year of the program consists of full-time study. During your second and third years, your time will be divided between study (three-quarters of your time) and gaining industry experience with IBM (one-quarter of your time). As part of the program, you will receive approximately $8,000 for each of your second and third years and have the opportunity to earn $8,000 in the first year.

Students who successfully complete three years of the program will be employed full-time by IBM for the first half of their fourth year, and will be offered a position at IBM on completion of their studies

The design of this program means that you will graduate with one year's work experience, greatly enhancing your employment opportunities with any IT company anywhere in the world, including options in private businesses, industry and government organisations.
