Ballina High School Marine Discovery Centre

Ballina High School has won a number of awards for their commitment to maintaining sections of coastline in their area. They have established a Marine Discovery and Resource Centre to deliver the Marine Studies curriculum, which has also become a valuable resource for surrounding schools

A sand by-pass system allows the Tweed River mouth to remain open. It also has prevented the Gold Coast from washing away – good news for the Tourist industry.

Wamballup Swamp Catchment: A catchment approach to combating rising salinity

National Dryland Salinity Program - An approach to combating the increasing amount of saline water developing in ground water is to remove the saline water through a variety of ways, including pumping. This is being done in Western Australia at the Wamballup Swamp Catchment.
