Referencing and Citations: This session looks at why, when and how to reference resources.

RefWorks: This session introduces students to the web-based bibliographic citation management tool supported by the UB Library. RefWorks allows you to import references from text files or online databases, or enter your own references and format references in a wide range of styles.

The 3Rs (Researching, Referencing and wRiting) interactive workshops are designed to provide students with an insight into these academic processes. Throughout the workshops, students learn skills to manage their own learning by applying concepts to their current assessment task.

3Rs workshops

  • Researching: combines the essentials of researching with the process of interpreting the task prior to commencing the assignment
  • Referencing: includes how to appropriately use the words of others, and covers the process of polishing the completed assignment
  • wRiting: covers writing and editing the first draft, including strategies for effective management of reading and note taking
