Borrowing and membership - Information for non-UB staff and student borrowers

Students and staff from other educational institutions

Membership

There are three schemes that allow staff and students from other Australian tertiary institutions to borrow from the UB Library free of change. We also offer free membership to VCE Units 3 & 4 students and teachers from selected schools. Students enrolled via Open Universities Australia are not eligible for any of the schemes outlined below.

Please note that membership through these schemes does not access to the Internet or other electronic resources.

Registration

To register, please present the following to staff at the Loans Desk:

CAVAL Reciprocal Borrowing Program (Victorian institutions) University Library Australia (ULA) (Australian institutions) TAFE National Reciprocal Borrowing Scheme (TAFE NRBS)
  • current student/staff ID card
  • current CAVAL card
  • photo ID
  • proof of current enrolment/employment
  • photo ID
  • current student/staff ID card
  • proof of current address
Infolink (VCE)

To register, complete the registration form (available from the Infolink (VCE) coordinator at your school) and attach a certified passport photo. Students need to get the form signed by the designated representative at your school, and your parent/guardian if you're under 18 years of age. Teachers must include certified proof of employment with the school as a VCE teacher. For more information, download our guide to the UB Library for Infolink (VCE) borrowers (pdf, 55KB).

Community borrowers

'Infolink' is our community borrower membership program. It enables people who are not UB staff or students, or eligible for membership through the reciprocal borrowing schemes outlined above, to borrow from the UB Library. Please note that membership does not include access to the Internet or other electronic resources.
