We are dedicated to increasing the participation rates in higher education of students from rural and regional areas.
UB recognises that VCE results (or equivalent) do not always predict success at tertiary level and REEP is designed to enable secondary students to apply for alternative entry into one of UB's higher education programs. When students apply through the REEP process they are assessed on their overall academic potential and demonstrated motivation to succeed rather than just their ATAR.
The Application Process
Current Year 12 students apply for an early provisional offer. The application must be supported by the student's secondary school. The application and selection timeline ensures that successful applicants will receive a provisional offer in time for the VTAC Change of Preference period in December.
The key components of the REEP application process include the following:
Who is eligible for REEP?
Candidates must be enrolled as a current VCE student (or interstate equivalent) in one of the nominated schools or colleges in the following regions: Central Highlands, Wimmera, Loddon Mallee, Barwon, Western District, Hume & Gippsland. The scheme is also open to regional students from nominated schools in the Melbourne metropolitan area, NSW and Tasmania. A full list of eligible schools is available at REEP eligible secondary schools and colleges 2011-2012
What are the Selection Criteria?
REEP applicants will be selected for a provisional offer by the appropriate UB Selection Officer based on the following selection criteria:
To receive their official offer through VTAC, applicants with a provisional offer must have:
The number of REEP places available per UB program will vary and depend upon demand and applicant suitability. This quota is at the University's discretion and the decision of the UB Selection Officer will be final.

What are the benefits of REEP?
REEP allows applicants to be considered with regard to their overall ability as a student rather than being assessed just on their ATAR. In addition, due to the timeline of REEP, applicants will be notified of the outcome in writing by late November. The early provisional offer enables applicants to make a start on preparation for life and study at the University. Applicants who do not receive a provisional offer are informed in time for them to fully consider their options at change of preference.
Successful applicants will receive an early provisional offer; an official offer at VTAC Round 1 will be made on the condition that they meet the prerequisites and entry requirements of their chosen degree program and the minimum required ATAR.
When do applications open for 2011-2012?
Applications open on Sunday 28 August 2011 and close at 5pm on Tuesday 18 October 2011.
