Admissions

Academic Structure

The university year is divided into 2 semesters. Semester 1 is from Feb. to June and semester 2 is from July to Nov. Each semester is 13 weeks in length. Exchange and Study Abroad students must enroll on a fulltime basis, which is equivalent to taking 4 subjects. Although subjects from different schools have different teaching methods, for example laboratory work is common in science-based subjects, while lecturers are common in the humanities and business schools. The majority of subjects will include some class participation, assignment work and examinations. Differences in assessment weightings vary from subject to subject.

Transfer of Credit

At the end of each semester you will be issued with a UB transcript detailing the subjects undertaken and the results. An official transcript will also be sent to your home institution for transfer of credit processing.

Subject Choices

There are hundreds of undergraduate and postgraduate subjects to choose from. Subjects in most schools are available to Exchange and Study Abroad students and at the Ballarat campuses, providing the subject prerequisites are met. Remember, when selecting subjects keep in mind how these subjects will be used for credit in your home university.

There are two ways you can select your subjects:

  1. Choose a Study Choices that reflects an area of interest for you, or

  2. Choose subjects from the full range of courses as they appear in our field of study:
    • Arts (visual, graphic and performing)
    • Behavioral and Social Sciences
    • Business
    • Education
    • Human Movement & Sport Sciences
    • Information technology & Mathematical Sciences
    • Nursing
    • Science & Engineering
