Why IT at UB?The Bachelor of Information Technology (Professional Practice) is an innovative program that has been developed in conjunction with IBM® to produce graduates who have an appreciation of the culture of work as an IT professional. From the second year of the program, you will combine university studies and practical experience with IBM® in an 'Earn As You Learn' program. Units on industry awareness and industry application are delivered in association with IBM® staff.The first year of the program consists of full-time study. During your second and third years, your time will be divided between study (three-quarters of your time) and gaining industry experience with IBM® (one-quarter of your time). As part of the program, you will receive approximately $7,000 for each of your second and third years and have the opportunity to earn $7,000 in the first year. Students who successfully complete three years of the program will be employed full-time by IBM® for the first half of their fourth year. The design of this program means that you will graduate with one year's work experience, greatly enhancing your employment opportunities with any IT company anywhere in the world. Completion of this program will provide you with a wide variety of career opportunities in small, medium and large businesses, industry and government. In addition, you will have an advantage over most other computing graduates because you will have gained valuable industry experience. In particular, you may wish to apply for a position with IBM®.
