The University of Ballarat has an extensive collection of historical material dating from the opening of the Ballarat School of Mines in 1870. The collection covers material from the University of Ballarat's predecessors including the Ballarat Teachers' College, State College of Victoria, Ballarat; the Ballarat Institute of Advanced Education, Ballarat College of Advanced Education and Ballarat University College.
Over 10,000 items in the collection are currently catalogued. A selection of these can be accessed digitally via the University of Ballarat library catalogue using the link above.
To search all material currently available via the library catalogue search under the "subject" category and type "archival materials victoria ballarat" into the centre box (make sure to leave a space between each word).
Alternatively you can do a keyword search by typing the name of the item/person you are looing for. (eg if looking for Alfred Mica Smith, select "word" in the left hand box, and type "Mica Smith" into the centre box. Select your preferred alternative. Once information about your selection appears you can display the image by clicking on "display image".)

The University of Ballarat Honour Roll celebrates the lives and achievements of past students and staff. The Honour Roll includes those associated with the University of Ballarat and its predecessor institutions: the Ballarat School of Mines (SMB); Ballarat Junior Technical School (BJTS); Ballarat Technical Girls' School (BTJGS); Ballarat Teachers' College (BTC); State College Victoria, Ballarat (SCVB); Ballarat Institute of Advanced Education (BIAE); Ballarat College of Advanced Education (BCAE); and Ballarat University College (BUC); and our western campuses at Ararat, Horsham and Stawell (Wimmera Community College of TAFE and the Wimmera Institute of TAFE).
Any former student or staff member is eligible for the Honour Roll, and suggestions for inclusion, and further information is welcomed.

| The University of Ballarat Post Office Gallery is situated in the heart of Ballarat on the corner of Sturt and Lydiard Streets. Exhibitions often feature Arts Academy students and staff. The gallery is open from noon to 3.00pm on Monday to Saturday. The bannes banners flying at the Sturt Street entrance indicate when the gallery is open.

SMB Entrance Book 1900-1914 includes student name, age, entrance date, occupation, subjects, education standard, school last attended and home address.
The data is being entered progressively. If the name you are searching for is not found, email the curator (c.gervasoni@ballarat.edu.au) with as much data as you have. Where a name is found it will be added to the database.
