Local Information
Ballarat is about a two-hour drive west from Melbourne. From Melbourne
airport, you can catch an airport shuttle, drive a rental car, or catch
a skybus to Spencer St Station and take a train.
Venue and Accommodation
Morning talks will be at University of Ballarat SMB Campus, a short walk from the main venue, The Mid City Hotel. Afternoon talks and the
conference dinner will be held at this site. Both the Mid City Hotel and SMB Campus are
centrally located in the Ballarat CBD.
The Mid City Hotel has offered special rates to
participants of AWOCA. Prices are, per night, per room (single, double, twin share)
$88 bed only
$12 extra for continental breakfast
$15 extra for cooked breakfast (recommended by all visitors who have selected this option).

historical significance to both Victoria and Australia and is a major
tourist centre. September is a time for school holidays in Australia.
Accommodation in Ballarat at this time may be at a premium. The Mid
City Motel has reserved some rooms for AWOCA 2005 given on a first-come
first-served basis. You are strongly urged to arrange accommodation early.
