General Information

The School of Business, University of Ballarat offers you a learning environment with high quality teaching, and a level of staff-student contact not always possible in larger institutions, state of the art technology and a wide variety of studies to choose from.

We regularly review our courses to ensure currency in industry and to ensure that our graduates are equipped with skills appropriate to the ever changing business environment.

In 2007 the School of Business will offer three undergraduate degrees (with a range of specialisations) and ten postgraduate degrees, along with several research and higher degree programs.

> Bachelor of Business Top-Up Program   Please note - Site in Chinese only

This is a one-year top-up Bachelor of Business program to be jointly delivered by UB and the National Intitute of Technology (NIT) in Beijing. The program is designed to provide opportunity for Chinese students who have completed a Chinese 3-year university diploma course to obtain UB's BBus degree by completing 8 prescribed units in one year. Graduates will be able to continue their advanced study in a Masters degree course at UB.

The Bachelor of Business (VTAC Code 37141) will enable students to acquire a sound working knowledge of strategic business concepts. It will provide skills to work in a wide range of business environments or to begin or grow your own business.

This course integrates theory and practice to provide entrepreneurial skills that give graduates a choice of careers in business. A key feature of the course is the group of practical business placements and project units that are available.

Doctor of Philosophy

> General Information

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is a research degree awarded on the basis of a thesis completed under supervision. Candidates may be full-time (3-4 years) or part-time (4.5-6 years). A PhD may also be awarded in recognition of a collection of scholarly works published in the period following enrolment as a doctoral candidate.

Designed for those with an honours or research Master’s degree and capacity to undertake research at PhD level.

Doctor of Business Administration

The DBA – the ‘professorial doctorate’ – involves integrated course work and research. It advances knowledge as well as demonstrating the application of new knowledge in practical situations. Master of Business

The Master of Business is a research degree awarded after external examination of a thesis prepared by the candidate. The MBus has no formal coursework requirement. The research degree can be completed full-time in 1-2 years or part-time in 2-4 years.
