The Film sequence examines the power, influence and appeal of film and video. It includes studies of film history, national cinemas, film genres, modes of spectatorship, various narrative styles, and a range of approaches to fiction and non-fiction film.
Students of Film gain a broadly-based understanding of films and screen culture.
They develop critical, analytical and presentation skills that may be used both
within and outside media industries.
Film Studies is multidisciplinary in its approach, drawing on the
insights and methods of history, cultural studies, contemporary theory,
sociology, politics, literature and aesthetics.
