Research performance indicators

Research and commercial development is a major strategic priority of Council. The University of Ballarat has significantly increased its research performance over the past three years. The major achievements include substantial improvements across all key indicators. Research income, funded research projects, publications, and the number of Higher Degree by Research completions have all more than doubled since 2000.

On a full-time equivalent comparative basis, the University of Ballarat's performance now is comparable to or exceeds several other universities including Charles Sturt University, Southern Cross University, the University of New England, Central Queensland University, and Charles Darwin University. Ballarat needs to continue to improve its research performance following the introduction of a competitive, performance-based research funding formula.
