Prizes are awarded by the University of Ballarat. Please note that abstracts, papers and posters submitted after the due date will be ineligible for prize consideration. Prizes will be awarded to higher degree students and early career researchers.
Full Conference Paper
MAJOR PRIZE: $500.00
The most outstanding full conference paper submitted from all disciplines will be selected based on the following generic and discipline-specific measures:
The generic measures:
- Significance of the paper and potential impact of the research
- Innovation of the paper
- Clarity of expressions of ideas and arguments
Discipline-specific measures:
- Academic status of the journal
- Extent to which the paper addresses the stated purposes/objectives of the target journal
- Extent to which the paper addresses or is likely to satisfy
the “Notes for contributors” as stated in the target
journal.
Best Presentations

$150.00 BOOK VOUCHERS (5 Awards)
$ 50.00 BOOK VOUCHERS (5 Awards)
The best presentations will be assessed using the following criteria:
- Connection with audience, including appropriate targeting for the type of audience
- Use of props or tools (e.g., PowerPoint slides)
- Enthusiasm and passion for the topic
- Clarity in expressing the research problem/topic/methodology/results
- Observation of presentation time constraints and appropriate pacing of presentation
Best Poster Display
$100 BOOK VOUCHERS (3 Awards)
The best poster display will be assessed using the following criteria:
- Clarity in presentation of the research problem/methodology/results.
- Clarity of visual design; clearly conveys and reinforces the topic
- Readability (font size and style, etc.)
- Appropriate use of material (photos, graphics, etc.)
- Demonstrated capacity to answer questions
