Postgraduate Research Scholarships

The University of Ballarat offers a range of scholarships for higher degree by research candidates. Scholarships are offered for full-time study of PhD's, Professional Doctorates and Masters by Research within the University's 8 Schools:

Limited Offer Scholarships available:

  • Biomedical Science Top-Up Scholarships
    The Biomedical Science group at the University of Ballarat is actively conducting research in areas of relevance to rural populations. The main research theme is the study of chronic diseases affecting regional Victorians, including cancer genetics, heart disease, diabetes and sexual health. Research projects including B.Biomed.Sc (Hons), Masters of Biomedical Science and PhD in Biomedical Science are currently offered.

    Top-up scholarships of $10,000 per annum are now available for highly motivated Science honours graduates who wish to work on one of the above priority areas and have qualified for an Australian Post-graduate Award (APA) or University Scholarship.

  • Course Fee Waiver Awards for Citizens of Australia or New Zealand, or Permanent Residents
    There are also a number of non-scholarship funded places, which are available for part-time as well as full-time study, at doctoral and masters level.

    To be considered for any of the limited offer scholarships listed above, the approved application form must be submitted to the Research & Graduate Studies Office. Annual Scholarships available:

  • University of Ballarat Postgraduate Research Scholarships (2010 rate: $22,500 p.a.)
  • Part Postgraduate Research Scholarships (2010 rate: $11,250 p.a.) are available. Part scholarships may be supplemented by teaching assistantships from Schools of the University.
  • Australian Postgraduate Awards with stipend (2010 rate: $22,500 p.a.)
  • Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarships DIISR Website (Course fees only)
  • Special Overseas Student Scholarships (Course fees funded by Schools)
