Ethics

It is important that research projects and practices conform to accepted community standards, and to this end certain research projects must be approved by the appropriate ethics committee, which includes community representatives.

  • Any research project involving human subjects must be approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC).
  • HUMAN RESEARCH ETHICS

  • Any work involving animals must be approved by the Animal Ethics Committee (AEC).
  • ANIMAL ETHICS

The Ethics Officer in the Research and Graduate Studies Office can advise which projects require approval and should always be consulted if there is any doubt. It is the formal responsibility of the supervisor to obtain any required ethical clearance for each higher degree project.
