Role Description
Research Interests
- David's primary research interests are safety culture and resilience engineering. In particular, he is interested in the specific leader practices that close the gap between work as imagined by leaders and managers and work as it is actually performed by workers and work groups.
- David is also interested in risk-awareness programs such as "Take 5" and how successful these leader initiated risk-awareness programs are in creating cultures of risk-awareness.
- David's other research interests are the OHS profession including the body of knowledge, and shared mental models of occurrence causation as the basis for communication, decision making and action.
Biography
David joined the VIOSH Australia team at the start of 1995. He has 11 years practical OHS Management experience and 13 years experience as an OHS lecturer and researcher. David also has extensive experience as an industry OHS trainer and consultant.
