Certificate IV in OHS
The Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety is a highly practical course, with students
completing assignments and activities based on their workplace needs. This competency-based
training means delivery can be tailored to suit specific industries, organisations and
individuals. This approach has provided UB with a very strong record of producing competent OHS
professionals, who are highly sought after by industry.
The standard model involves two weeks of daytime lectures conducted in Ballarat — the coursework
component of the program — in either January or July. Tasks and assessment, which take place
over the ensuing months, will have a strong workplace focus, and require a combination of
workplace assessment and the completion of a folio. The course work is completed by students in
their own time, without the need to attend further classes.
The course has been successfully delivered internationally.
Presenters understand the challenges that face students studying part-time or returning to study
and provide a supportive and helpful learning environment. They have high level qualifications
in the OHS field and in-depth practical experience across multiple industries. This course
encourages students to work together, share information and solutions, and build solid OHS
networks.
Students have access to an online environment that provides access to resources, supports student interaction and enables submission of assessments
The Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety is accredited by the Australian National
Training Authority, via the TAFE Division of the University of Ballarat.
