Biography

Jim is a land use planner and project manager with skills and extensive experience in the preparation and overseeing of land use policies, strategies and management plans, particularly for rural areas and public land, and in project management of a range of planning, assessment and development projects. Jim is also an architect and landscape architect with experience in government and private practice.

Jim has the role of overseeing the management and quality control for the large number of research and consulting projects undertaken by the Centre for Environmental Management. He has also been directly responsible for the delivery of a number of Centre projects including:

  • three national Natural Heritage Trust program reviews for Environment Australia;
  • a statewide review of roadside management plan guidelines for VicRoads;
  • a study of environmental issues and opportunities in the Ballarat Region for the Department of Infrastructure;
  • a study of the effectiveness of enforcement of pest plant and animal controls in south wast Victoria for the then Department of Natural Resources and Environment;
  • a review of Phytophthora cinnamomi best management practice for Parks Victoria;
  • development of management plans for the Gellibrand River estuary and wetlands, Power Creek Reserve and Mount Elephant; and
  • development of a roadside weed strategy for the Corangamite Shire.

Jim has been a senior manager with Parks Victoria and the then Department of Natural Resources and Environment and has considerable management, planning and policy development experience in natural resource and public land management, particularly in coastal areas, and parks and public land.
