Types of Credit

Basis for Recognition of Credit
Credit may be granted for study, learning or experience, in any or all of the following categories. Please ensure that your application is submitted under the most relevant category.
1) Credit Transfer

a) Previous successful study at the University of Ballarat or its antecedents; or

b) Previous successful study at another higher education, tertiary or TAFE institution.
2) Block Credit
-
Granted for whole stages of a course, such as a year.

Prior to making your on-line application for Block Credit please discuss your application with your Course Co-ordinator to ascertain the most appropriate Application Category.
3) Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
-
a) Learning acquired in a credentialed context other than higher education, tertiary, educational institutions and/or any other recognized providers;

b) Learning acquired in an un-credentialed context, such as through work experience or through life experience.
4) Cross Institutional Study

Studying subjects at another institution, in Australia or overseas, whilst an enrolled student at the University of Ballarat.

Prior to making application to the Courses Committee the following preliminary steps must be completed:

To study Help Loan unit/s (HECS-HELP, FEE-HELP, OS-HELP) at another institution you should complete a "University of Ballarat Application for Complementary Enrolment" Form, available from Student Services.

To study Fee-paying unit/s at another institution you should complete a "University of Ballarat Application to Study at Another Institution (Fee-paying)" Form available from Student Services.

Submit your application to the Course Co-ordinator at the host institution for approval.

Once your study has been approved by the host institution you can then proceed with your on-line application to undertake Cross Institutional Study.
