Bachelor of Science Degree
General Information
The Bachelor of Science is designed for students with diverse educational backgrounds and an interest in science. The Bachelor of Science provides a state-of the-art foundation in modern scientific principles and theories with a stream of units touching on all the major science disciplines. Maximum flexibility allows students to design their own major and minor streams. Students choose from an extensive range of subjects in established, newly emerging, general and specialist sciences, all of which are underpinned by scientific research. The course emphasizes and develops scientific communication, logical thinking, practical skills, analytical talent and above all a curiosity.
The Bachelor of Science provides a strong basis in the fundamentals of science but still includes a large practical component often delivered in small laboratory classes – the ideal environment to get the most out of science.

This degree can take you anywhere. As a science graduate, your employment opportunities and career aspirations are vast with career opportunities in both the public and private sectors. Dependant on your combination of chosen units, you could look to careers in:

Application Information
Satisfactory completion of the VCE, including prerequisites Units 3 and 4 Mathematics (any); interstate or overseas equivalent.
Selection mode:
CY12: ENTER and two stage process with a middle band of approximately 20%. NONY12: Form and GPA.
Middleband:
A study score of at least 20 in any biology, chemistry, mathematical methods (either), geography or physics = an aggregate 3 points higher per study.
Non Year 12 applicants can apply direct to the University through the Tertiary Access Scheme. Refer to the Admissions, Policy and Procedures section in the University of Ballarat Higher Education Handbook.
