Optimization of capital and operational expenditures for a telecommunication network
Maintaining the availability of telecommunication networks is a major part of expenses for telecommunication service providers. There are two principal ways to reduce downtime. One is to increase the number of service staff, the other is to use the duplication of existing equiopment or deploy self-healing architectures. The most low cost way to maintain a network can be found by solving some complicated problems of mathematical optimization.
The goals of this project were to set corresponding optimization problems, to develop algorithms for solving these problems, and to develop software which allows a company to find the required lowest cost regime of maintenance for each set of initial data.
