1926:
Ballarat Teachers College (BTC) opens on 4 May 1926 in the Dana Street State School buildings.

1927:
The College moves to the old Ballarat East Town Hall (now demolished) in Barkly Street.

1931:
BTC closes in December with the onset of the Depression.

1946:
The College reopens at Dana Street State School in February 1946, with Frank Lord the newly appointed Principal. Lord remained in the position until 1951 when he transferred to establish a Teacher's College at Toorak.

Tom William Turner was Lord's successor. A highlight of his term was the construction of new college buildings at Gillies Street with the students commencing their lessons there in February 1958.

Ballarat Teachers College at Dana Street
1970:
Tom William Turner retires, having overseen a period of substantial growth in the institution. In that year alone more than one hundred and forty students completed their primary teaching qualification to meet a severe shortage of teachers. Doug Watson commenced as principal in 1971.

1973:
Ballarat Teacher's College becomes the State College of Victoria at Ballarat.

Mount Helen campus
1975:
Ballarat College of Advanced Education is formed and the teacher education students move to the Mount Helen campus.

1989:
Ballarat College of Advanced Education becomes an affiliated college of the University of Melbourne.

1994:
University of Ballarat created.
