The School of Business offers several leading postgraduate programs. Courses are offered at the main Mt Helen campus;
offcampus in Geelong, Sydney and Melbourne; internationally in Hong Kong, China, New Zealand and Malaysia; and
in-company with organisations in the form of corporate programs where numbers permit.
Our flexible course delivery allows you to complete your studies in a time frame to suit your own personal, financial
and work commitments.
Our Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Business Administration (International Management) have become
the international standard for graduate business qualifications.
Both MBA programs have been designed to allow students to enter and exit the degree at various points. Students who
already possess a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma may enter the MBA program and receive substantial credits.
Students may also exit the program at one of the four exit points and receive a University Award.
To graduate with any of the below awards, the student must enrol in the appropriate course, then when conferred with the award, must wait 12 months before applying for entry to the next course.

Credit Transfer and Content Waiver Policy
The University of Ballarat encourages applicants who have previous relevant study or experience in other universities or TAFE Colleges to seek content transfer/waiver at the time of application to the course.
Application for credit may be applied for when students have undertaken previous studies at a graduate level. Students need to accurately complete and sign the Application for Credit Transfer form.
Applications will be considered on an individual basis by the Graduate Course Committee but only after receipt of a fully completed application form (including the UB subject that credit is being requested for) and certified copies of all supporting documentation.
Supporting documentation includes:
- Transcript of results.
- Subject outline of subject previously studied and for which credit transfer is being sought. This subject outline should have details such as hours completed, objectives, content covered, the number and type of assessment tasks etc.
- Any other evidence that is applicable.
Students who believe that they may be eligible to receive course credits should view the Credit Transfer and Content Waiver Policy.
The distinction between eligibility for credit transfer or content waiver is explained below.
Credit Transfer
A full credit is given for previous study at a graduate level, thereby shortening the length of the course- thus the number of units required to complete the course of study is reduced by the number of credits given. Students may be eligible for a credit transfer for a specific unit or an unspecified elective for other graduate study. Maximum number of credits that can be given to a student are 50% of the course.
Eligibility
The study must be at the graduate level. Eligibility of studies that are more than five years old must be demonstrated by proving that professional or employment experience has maintained their currency.
Example: A student who had already completed a Graduate Diploma of Accounting was granted a credit transfer for BA 401 Accounting and Finance and was only required to complete 11 units in the MBA instead of the usual 12 units.
Content Waiver
A waiver is given if a student has previous undergraduate study in a specific area and would be duplicating content learning by completing another unit in the area. The granting of a content waiver means that although the student will still be required to do the specified number of units for a program, one or more core units will not be required.
Eligibility
Three undergraduate units at credit grade or better from a recognised university or equivalent in the discipline area. Currency of studies that are more than five years old must be demonstrated by proof that professional or employment experience has maintained their currency.
Example: A student who had an undergraduate degree in Marketing with three relevant undergraduate units and had also been a Marketing Manager for several years, was granted a waiver for BM401 Marketing but still completed 12 units. However, the options for the selection of electives were broadened.
N.B. It is essential that students provide adequate information at the time of applying for the credit transfer/content waiver so that it can be accurately and fairly assessed. Please seek advice from the Course Co-ordinator before lodging your application.

Corporate / In-Company Programs
Our corporate/in-company programs are co-operative ventures between the School of Business and
partner organisations. The programs are designed to benefit your business or organisation,
whilst at the same time allowing individual managers to acquire appropriate tertiary management
qualifications. They create the opportunity for organisations to work together with the School of
Business to provide management development within the framework of your company needs and a university
accredited management qualification.
