IMPORTANT NOTICES

Appointment Request Form

International students must endeavour to resolve course issues with the partner administration and International Unit staff. Only when resolution cannot be reached at this level will students be seen at Mt Helen - and then only by pre-arranged appointment. Students must demonstrate that this has been done by providing the attached form, duly completed by the Partner Institute.

If an appointment has not been made between the Administration at the Institute where you are studying and the Administration at Mt Helen, you will not be seen.

Please note: Staff at Mt Helen will not be responding directly to queries from students at Partner Institutes, whether by phone, email or mail.

GENERAL INFORMATION

This site is for students who have enrolled in a University of Ballarat course, delivered in partnership with a partner, interstate or in a country other than Australia. We call this type of study "offshore".

As an offshore student, you will undertake exactly the same courses and use exactly the same University of Ballarat course materials as students taking the same course at our Mt.Helen campus in Ballarat.  You will take the same examinations and will be assessed against the same levels of performance.  We call this moderation.  The partner institution where you study provides the local support, such as lectures, tutorials and discussion groups and we provide the course materials and academic support.  Our arrangements for the teaching of our courses offshore are subject to strict quality assurance measures.  You can be assured that you are receiving the same standard of education from our partner institutions as you would at our Mt.Helen campus in Ballarat.

At the School of Business, our courses are comprised of a number of subjects, called "units".  Each unit is managed by a "unit coordinator" and moderated by an appropriately qualified and experienced member of our staff.  We strive to ensure that our partner institution teaching staff are provided with appropriate materials and other support.  Your lecturer should be in regular contact with us throughout the teaching period.  If you have any concerns about your unit(s), you should speak first with your lecturer and if need be, contact us for further assistance.  Assistance in planning your course is available from your Course Co-coordinator at your institution who will seek clarification with us whenever it is required. All students need to carefully plan their course. The University of Ballarat and your institution will ensure that you have access to all the necessary information in order for you to do so.

Your main point of contact for teaching, learning and administrative issues will be with the partner institution where you are studying.  Your staff contacts will be work closely with the appropriate staff at the University of Ballarat to support and assist you to progress successfully through your degree studies.

As well as your local institution's resources, you can use your University of Ballarat username and password to access the electronic library resources from our Mt. Helen library.  These may include electronic journal articles, past exam papers
