I teach sociology units about indigenous issues, health, research methods, rural Australia, Australia’s role in the region and I co-ordinate the FAST (transition to university) program. I also have broad research interests which relate to:

• Community development and community capacity building in rural communities;
• Program evaluation;
• Australian welfare history;
• Interpretations of ethical practices in conducting research involving human participants;
• Citizenship and welfare entitlements;
• The role of the professional in helping facilitate self-help support groups;
• Insurgency and indigenous independence movements in the Asia-Pacific region;
• Australia's foreign policy responses to democratic movements in the Asia-Pacific region;
• History of race relations in Australia
