Invitation to Participate in "View of Self, Community, and Ways of Coping as Predictors of Mental Health in Adulthood" Research
Dear potential participant,
This is an invitation to participate in research being conducted by Ms Sarah Davis under the supervision of Associate Professor Rapson Gomez at the University of Ballarat, Mt Helen campus.
This study explores the relationship between Level of Attachment in Adulthood, Hope, Sense of Belonging, and Experiential Avoidance; and how this relates to Mental Health in Adulthood.
Participation in the study involves the completion of questionnaires as well as the provision of some background information. The questionnaires cover such areas relationships, goal setting and motivation, sense of belonging, dealing with uncertainty and anxiety, and personal well-being. The questionnaire package should take approximately 25 minutes to complete, and it is important that each question be answered as honestly as possible for the research to be of significant value.
Participation in the study is completely voluntary. You may withdraw from participating in the study now, or at any point whilst completing the questionnaire (particularly if you experience distress). You are not required to write your name on the questionnaire; thereby assuring the information you provide will remain anonymous. Once data are collected, your results will form part of a larger database, from which only group data will be reported. Only the researchers (Ms Sarah Davis and Associate Professor Rapson Gomez) will have access to these data. Returning the completed questionnaire indicates that you understand the nature of the research and freely consent to participating in the study.
If you have any concerns during or after the completion of the questionnaires, you are encouraged to discuss these at any time with either researcher or a counsellor. If you are feeling distressed at any time following the completion of the questionnaires and wish to preserve your anonymity, 24 hour support is available by contacting Lifeline (1300 651251 or 131114).
Detailed summary of the results will be available towards the end of the year. Participants interested in receiving this information are asked to contact Associate Professor Rapson Gomez for a summary to be posted out.
Thank you for your time and consideration in participating in the present study.
