About the University of Ballarat Psychology Clinic
The School of Behavioural & Social Sciences & Humanities of the University of Ballarat has established the UB
Psychology Clinic to provide psychological services for children and
adolescents. It is run in conjunction with and support from Student Services at the University.
The Director of the Clinic is
Dr Robert Moss and the Clinic is staffed by postgraduate psychology students currently
undertaking the Master of Psychology and Doctor of Psychology training
programmes in clinical psychology. The students, registered probationary
psychologists, are closely supervised by a team of highly experienced, qualified
registered psychologists, who have doctoral level professional qualifications in
clinical psychology, including child and adolescent clinical and educational
psychology.
Services provided by the UB Psychology Clinic
The UB Psychology Clinic offers a range of psychological
services for children and adolescents, including psychological and educational
assessment, and treatment of various behavioural and emotional problems.
Currently, the UB Psychology Clinic specialises in the assessment, treatment and
management of the following:
- Anxiety and phobias
- Behaviour difficulties (hyperactivity and conduct problems)
- Learning problems (reading, spelling, maths)
- Parent-child conflict
- Anger management
- Depression
- Bedwetting and toileting problems
- Adjustment problems
- Eating-body image problems
- Habit disorders (nail biting, nervous tics)
- Sleep disturbances
- Relationship difficulties
- Sexual issues
The UB Psychology Clinic is also able to provide educational
services to parents, teachers, clinicians, and other health and social services
providers. These services include workshops and short training programs, such as
parent training and developing skills in behaviour modification.
What is the cost involved?
The UB Psychology Clinic charges moderate fees for services
provided. The fees are not paid to individual
clinicians or supervising staff but are used to maintain and purchase equipment
and tests for the UB Psychology Clinic.
The service fees will generally be from $25 to $60 per
session, but is dependent on family income, and may be higher in some cases. The
actual fee is a matter of negotiation with the Coordinator of the UB Psychology
Clinic.
In line with the UB Psychology Clinic philosophy that no one should be refused service because of financial difficulties, in cases of genuine financial hardship fees can be waived.
Fees are usually payable after each consultation.
Please note that as our services are provided by probationary
and trainee psychologists, private health insurance cannot provide a rebate for
these services.

Parents, health professionals, teachers, private and government sponsored
