Building and Construction Training Centre

The Building and Construction Training Centre (BCTC) comprises teaching facilities for Electrical, Carpentry, Joinery, Plumbing, Painting, Bricklaying and Building Design and as such includes classrooms, large workshops, computer labs, offices for staff and support facilities including a video-conference room and a large staffroom. A large undercover live work area for small building construction shares the southern building with the Bricklaying teaching facilities.

Equine Centre

Only a few minutes drive from Ballarat's CBD and less than one kilometre off the freeway, this new facility is convenient for student access and those travelling in from the west or Melbourne. The centre's indoor surface measures 80 metres long and 33 metres wide. A highlight of the design is the use of arched laminated timber beams supporting the roof and walls.

The new Equine Centre enables the University of Ballarat to be the leading provider of equine programs. Programs on offer include:

Certificate II in Racing (Stablehand)
Certificate III in Racing (Advanced Stablehand)
Certificate III in Racing (Trackrider)
Certificate IV in Racing (Jockey)
Diploma in Racing

Primary Industries Training Centre

This centre opened in December 2010 and includes environmentally sustainable design solutions which reduces overall operating costs. Located next door to the Ballarat Botanical Gardens, it provides a great opportunity for interaction with the local industry and community groups involved in Primary Industries.

About 500 full time and part time apprentices and trainees are able to be accommodated in the new centre. Course on offer include Certificate II through to Advanced Diplomas in Agriculture, Horticulture, Conservation/Land Management and Racing.
