An alternative entry program to UB for regional VCE students.
About REEP The University of Ballarat is dedicated to increasing the participation rates in higher education of students from rural and regional areas.
UB recognises that VCE results (or equivalent) do not always predict success at tertiary level and REEP is designed to enable secondary students, upon the nomination of their school principal, to apply for alternative entry into one of UB's higher education programs. When students apply through the REEP process they are assessed on their overall academic potential and demonstrated motivation to succeed rather than just their ENTER.
The Application Process The program focuses on secondary school principals nominating students who they believe will succeed at tertiary level. The application and selection timeline ensures that successful applicants will receive a provisional offer in time for the VTAC Change of Preference period in December.
The key components of the REEP application process include the following:
REEP is available for UB higher education undergraduate degree programs which are listed as eligible for REEP in the 2010 VTAC guide. A full list of programs can also be viewed at this link: REEP eligible degree programs 2010.
Applicants must apply for their UB REEP program through the standard VTAC process as well as on the official REEP application form. The application form is available here: REEP Application Form 2009-2010
REEP is available for one degree program only. Additional UB programs can be applied for via the regular VTAC process or Direct Entry, whichever is appropriate

Provisional offers to successful candidates will be made in early December 2009.
Who is eligible for REEP? Candidates must be enrolled as a current VCE student (or equivalent) in one of the nominated schools or colleges in the following regions: Central Highlands, Wimmera, Loddon Mallee, Barwon, Western District, Hume & Gippsland.
The scheme is also open to regional students from nominated schools in the Melbourne metropolitan area, NSW, SA and Tasmania. Follow this link for a full list of nominated schools. REEP eligible schools 2009-2010.
What are the Selection Criteria? REEP applicants will be selected by the appropriate UB Selection Officer based on the following selection criteria:
Consistent, successful results in Units 1,2 and 3 of an applicant's VCE studies (or interstate equivalent);
Demonstrated motivation to succeed in the UB degree program of the applicant's choice;
Contributions to the applicant's school and community; in particular activities related to their program of choice;
Recommendation from the school principal regarding the applicant's potential to succeed at tertiary level;
Successful completion of the appropriate prerequisites and extra requirements*;
A minimum ENTER of 50
*Interstate applicants are advised to check that they meet the prerequisites in English for entrance to a Victorian University.
The number of REEP places available per UB program will vary between programs depending on demand and applicant suitability. This quota is at the University's discretion and the decision of the UB Selection Officer will be final.
REEP allows applicants to be considered with regard to their overall ability as a student rather than being assessed just on their ENTER. In addition, due to the timeline of REEP,
applicants will be notified of the outcome in writing by early December. The early provisional offer enables applicants to make a start on preparation for life and study at the University Successful applicants will receive a provisional offer based on the condition that they meet the prerequisites and entry requirements of their chosen degree program. They are ensured an official offer in Round 1
so long as they list their REEP program as first preference in their VTAC preference list. Applicants who do not receive a provisional offer find out in time to fully consider their options at change of preference.
