Change of Preference Infoline 1800 811 711
Monday 17th to Friday 21st December - 9am until 5pm
General Information
You've finally finished Year 12 and now have the opportunity to relax and look forward to a
hard-earned break ... not just yet though! The Change of Preference period allows
you to reassess your course preference list and revise the initial VTAC application
that you placed in September. By reviewing your preference list you may increase your chances
of getting into the course of your choice.
If you're a Year 12 student, checking out your ENTER on 17 December will probably be the first thing on your mind.
The Change of Preference period begins on 3 December; however, students are advised to wait until
they have their results before registering any change. For Victorian applicants,
the Change of Preference period ends at noon on Monday 24 December.
Register now for the UB Change of Preference Information Evening, to be held on Wednesday 19 December 2007
from 4.30pm - 5.30pm, SMB Campus, Brewery Complex by clicking here.

Here are a few things to consider when you are thinking about changing your preferences:
- Now that you know your ENTER, you can be more realistic about your choices.
You may have received a better result than you expected; in which case you may
decide to add a new course(s) to your preference list. Or perhaps you didn't do
quite as well as you'd hoped; in this case you may decide to remove a course(s) from
your preference list and replace them with more appropriate choices.
- List the courses in the order that you wish to study them. You
should only apply for courses you are interested in, motivated to study,
and believe you can do well at.
- If you add a new course, don't forget that you must have completed the prerequisite
subjects and met any extra requirements. In some cases it is not possible to add a course at
Change of Preference time.
- Seek advice - go to the institution you are considering and have a look at the facilities;
speak to the students and staff.
- If you're having trouble deciding on your preferences, speak to your careers teachers, friends,
your parents, and past students who have studied in an area in which you're interested.
- Apply for accommodation at a number of different institutions - who knows which institutions will
offer you a place? On-campus accommodation fills up very quickly and you don't want to miss out.
- If you're not sure about your choice, or if you need further information, please call the University of
Ballarat Change of Preference hotline on 1800 811 711.
