Australian Postgraduate Awards with Stipend (APA)

The Department of Education, Science and Training offers Postgraduate Awards With Stipend (APAs) each year to train people with exceptional promise to undertake a higher degree by research. The Awards include a stipend for living expenses, the payment of all course fees, and a relocation and thesis allowance. They are awarded to individuals for academic excellence.

University of Ballarat Postgraduate Research Scholarships (UBPRS)

Priority in awarding these scholarships is given to graduates who have completed a four-year undergraduate degree with first class honours (or equivalent). Awards are restricted to Australian citizens or those with residence status and current University of Ballarat IPRS Awardees.

Part Postgraduate Research Scholarships (PPRS)

A number of Part Postgraduate Research Scholarships (PPRS) will be available for 2005. Each scholarship will carry a stipend of $5,200 and be tenurable for aperiod of up to three years (for PhD candidature) or two years (for Masters candidature). Awards are restricted to Australian citizens or permanent residents. Applicants awarded a prt scholarship will also receive a HECS exemption scholarship. Part scholarships are restricted to full-time applicants.

International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS)

These awards are open to citizens of all overseas countries except New Zealand. The scholarship is available for full-time postgraduate research study in areas of research concentration as designated by individual institutions. They are awarded to individuals for academic excellence. One UBPRS is allocated to the successful IPRS student each year.

School of Nursing

Scholarship in Oncology and Palliative Care Studies
The Patriotic Funds Council of Victoria (PFC) will administer a Scholarship provided by the War Widows and Widowed Mothers' Association to a registered Division 1 nurse who wishes to undertake the Graduate Diploma of Nursing (Oncology and Palliative Care) at the University of Ballarat. The scholarship is valued at $3,800.

School of Behavioural & Social Sciences & Humanities

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship
The School of Behavioural & Social Sciences & Humanities will award a course fee exemption for undergraduate or prostgraduate courses to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander undertaking a course at the Mt Helen campus. Normally this would be $11,500 per year fee exemption for an undergraduate course.

Australian Federation of University Women - Victoria

AFUW 2007 Scholarships
The scholarships for 2007 are offered only to female students who are enrolled at Victorian universities, who can demonstrate that they have been or are experiencing disadvantage in the pursuit of their studies.

William and Elizabeth Fisher Scholarship
$3000 and two Bursaries $1500 each for female students enrolled in 2007 in a postgraduate research degree at a Victorian University.

Trudy Kentish Scholarship
$2000 for a female student enrolled in 2007 in a Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Dip Ed) enrolled at a Victorian University.

AFUW - Vic Scholarhip
$2000 and two Bursaries $1000 each for female students enrolled in 2007 in a postgraduate coursework degree at a Victorian University. Mature Age will be a preferential factor.

E D Daniels Scholarship
$2500 and two Bursaries $1250 each for female students enrolled in 2007 in an Honours degree at a Victorian University.

Fulbright Scholarships

Valued at up to $A40,000, the Fulbright Awards are open to Australian citizens to undertake research or study in the United States. The award must be started between 1 July 2006 and 30 June 2007.

Applications are invited in the following award categories:

  • Fulbright Postdoctoral Awards
  • Fulbright Senior Scholar Awards
