UB Equity & Financial Aid Scholarships

For many people, financial hardship is a real barrier to commencing or continuing further education. This may be due to a restricted income, such as a Centrelink benefit or low-wage work, or the need to care for others with limited financial support.

The University of Ballarat's Equity & Financial Aid Scholarships aim to help alleviate the burden of costs associated with study for rural and regional, low socio-economic, Indigenous students and students affected by exceptional circumstances such as drought.

In 2007, over 250 Equity & Financial Aid Scholarships and 40 reconditioned desktop computers were offered to students enrolled in undergraduate courses and specific post graduate courses at UB. In 2008 our offerings are even greater with over 250 Equity & Financial Aid Scholarships and 220 reconditioned desktop computers on offer to eligible students.

UB's Equity and Financial Aid Scholarships covers both the Commonwealth Scholarships and the UB Financial Aid Scholarships - further information can be found from the links below.

Commonwealth Scholarships (CS)

Introduced by the Commonwealth Government in 2004, the Commonwealth Scholarships (previously Commonwealth Learning Scholarships) program offers scholarships to assist with general education costs, or accommodation costs where a student of low socio-economic background needs to move from a regional or remote area to undertake study.

For 2008 the University of Ballarat will implement a new Commonwealth Government initiative by offering additional scholarships for Indigenous students. New categories of the Commonwealth Scholarships have been established including Indigenous Access Scholarships for commencing Indigenous students, as well as new CECS Indigenous Enabling and CAS Indigenous Enabling for Indigenous students enrolled in UB's FAST program.

UB Financial Aid Scholarships

The University of Ballarat also provides financial aid scholarships to assist with general education costs, or accommodation costs where a student of low socio-economic background needs to move from a rural or regional area to undertake study.

TAFE students enrolled in nominated UB Arts Academy courses may also be eligible for a School-based Financial Aid Scholarship, funded by the Arts Academy.
