Consideration on Equity Grounds
The University of Ballarat seeks to provide equality of opportunity so that all sectors of the community can participate equally in the life and work of the University.
To help achieve this aim, the University undertakes a range of strategies to increase the participation and success in higher education of students from equity groups. One strategy is accepting applications for consideration in admission on the grounds of disadvantage as a result of factors relating to membership of a nominated equity group.
Applicants may apply to the University of Ballarat for consideration on equity grounds according to the following categories:
- Mature Age Entry
- Recognition as an Indigenous Australian
- Difficult family circumstances
- Disadvantaged socio-economic background
- Rural or isolated applicants
- Personal disability or long term medical condition
How to apply for consideration for entry:
- If you are applying via VTAC please refer to Special Entry Access Schemes (SEAS)
- If you are applying directly to the University you are required to include a letter with your application outlining the nature of the issues that have affected your ability to demonstrate achievement in prior education and /or employment or return to study, and the reasons you believe you would be likely to succeed in a tertiary course.
