Consideration on Equity Grounds
The University of Ballarat seeks to provide equality of opportunity so that all sectors of the community can participate equally in the life and work of the University.
To help to achieve this aim, the University undertakes a range of strategies to increase the participation and success in higher education of students from equity groups. One strategy is accepting applications for consideration in admission on the grounds of disadvantage as a result of factors relating to membership of a nominated equity group.
At present, the six equity groups, nominated by the Commonwealth as having a history of disavantage, are Indigenous Australians, people from rural and isolated areas; people from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds; people with disabilities; people from non-English speaking backgrounds; and women non-traditional areas of study
How to apply for consideration for entry:
- If you are applying via VTAC please refer to Special Entry Access Schemes (SEAS)
- If you are applying directly to the University you are required to include a letter with your application outlining the nature of the issues that have affected your ability to demonstrate achievement in prior education and /or employment or return to study, and the reasons you believe you would be likely to succeed in a tertiary course.
