Indigenous Employment Strategy 2004-2006
While the University has been developing and delivering post-secondary education and training for Indigenous people for over a decade, the introduction of an Indigenous employment strategy recognises the need to take positive action against the continued disadvantage experienced by Indigenous Australians in the labour market. It is a strategy UB has introduced with the help of Commonwealth Government Structured Training and Employment Projects (STEP) funds, and will enable the University to build on its experience in working with Indigenous communities and the public and private sectors to develop employment opportunities and career pathways within UB and with local industries.
Over the next three years, the strategy's objective is to provide fifteen employment places at UB for Indigenous Australians and to provide those recruits with training and career development assistance.
