Borrowing and membership
UB students and staff, and other registered users, can borrow items from any UB campus library. To borrow, UB staff and
students must produce their current University ID card. Other library users must be registered and have the appropriate card
when borrowing.

* Non-UB staff/students cannot borrow from the '3 day loan' and Realia collections. Also, copyright regulations restrict this
group from borrowing off-air video and audio recordings from within the Multimedia collection.
**Items held in the Journal and Reference collections are not available for borrowing to any Library users.
Returning or renewing library items
Provided no hold(s) have been placed on the item(s), and you have no overdues, you can renew items:
- online using myLibrary@UB
- by phoning staff at any campus library
- in person at the Loans Desk, upon presentation of your current UB ID or borrowing card

You can return your library items by:
- placing them in the designated book return chutes at any campus library
- posting them to any campus library
- placing Reserve items in the Reserve collection shute at the Loans Desk
Items must be returned by closing time on the due date to prevent overdue penalties.
Holds and intercampus requests
You can request an item that is currently unavailable or located at another campus library. Do this:
- via the UB Library catalogue, using the 'Request' button at the top of the entry for the item you require
- in person at the Loans Desk, upon presentation of your current UB ID or borrowing card
When the requested item becomes available, you will be emailed a collection notice. You will have a week to collect the item from the Loans Desk at
your home campus library.
