Copyright for studentsStudents are permitted to copy copyright material for use in their research or study at the University of Ballarat under a section of the Copyright Act covering fair dealing for the purpose of research or study. This allows students to copy limited amounts of copyright material as part of their study at the University of Ballarat as long as their actions fall within the conditions outlined in s.40 or s. 103C of the Copyright Act. These sections can also be used by staff who wish to copy material for their own research activities. In most cases, the fair dealing exceptions can only be used by individuals and are different to the statutory licences (Part VA and Part VB) that allow the university staff to make multiple copies of material for educational purposes. There is no payment required for the use of the fair dealing exceptions. Copyright brochures can be obtained by contacting the Information Services Office on 5327 9829 For further information contact the Copyright Office. |
